Discover asteroids and comets from JPL's Small-Body Database
Small bodies are celestial objects in our solar system that are smaller than planets or dwarf planets. This category includes asteroids, rocky remnants from the early solar system, and comets, icy bodies that develop tails when they approach the Sun. Some small bodies, known as Near-Earth Objects (NEOs), have orbits that bring them close to Earth.
Data is sourced from JPL's Small-Body Database. Orbit classifications, hazard flags, and physical properties can change as additional observations refine each object's solution.
NEO means the orbit can come relatively close to Earth. PHA means the object is both close enough and large enough to deserve extra monitoring. Neither label means an impact is expected. Orbit class describes the object's dynamical family, while size is often estimated indirectly from brightness rather than directly measured.

The best use of this page is triage: filter by asteroid vs comet, orbit class, NEO, and PHA to narrow the catalog quickly, then open detail pages for the objects whose orbit and size estimates matter most to you.
